Andrew the Apostle

Andrew (German: Andreas) was a Galilean fisherman and the brother of Simon Peter who, in John's Gospel, is the first person Jesus calls to follow him — which is why the Eastern Church honors him as the Protokletos, the "First-Called." Scripture records only a handful of his words, and each time his instinct is to bring someone else to Jesus; his later mission to distant lands and his death by crucifixion at Patras come to us through early tradition rather than the New Testament itself.
