Cecilia

Cecilia of Rome was an early Roman virgin martyr of the third century, one of the most venerated of the Roman martyrs, buried near the crypt of the popes in the Catacomb of Callixtus and honoured since at least the fourth century. She is best known as the patron saint of music and musicians — though that patronage grew from a medieval misreading of a liturgical antiphon rather than from anything she is documented to have done. Almost all of her familiar story comes from the fifth-century Passio Sanctae Caeciliae, written some two centuries after her death.
