Christopher
Saint Christopher (the name means "Christ-bearer") is among the world's most beloved saints and one of the least documented: the only solid evidence is a fifth-century inscription showing that a martyr named Christopher was already venerated near Chalcedon in Asia Minor by 450–452. The famous story of the giant who carried the Christ child across a river is a 13th-century legend from the Golden Legend, not history. He is honored as the patron of travelers, drivers, and pilgrims.
