Dismas the Good Thief
Dismas is the traditional name for the "good thief," one of the two criminals crucified beside Jesus. In Luke's Gospel he rebukes the other condemned man, admits his own guilt, and asks only to be remembered — receiving the answer, "Today you will be with me in Paradise." He is honored as the patron of prisoners and the condemned, and endures as the Church's emblem of grace granted at the eleventh hour.
