Dominic
Dominic de Guzmán (c. 1170–1221) was a Castilian priest who founded the Order of Preachers — the Dominicans — confirmed by Pope Honorius III in 1216, meeting heresy with study, poverty and persuasion rather than force. Documented sources remember him as a tireless preacher of unusually bodily prayer who once sold his own annotated books to feed the starving during a famine.
