George

Saint George was a Christian soldier martyred for his faith around the year 303 at Lydda in Palestine (modern Lod, Israel) — one of the most famous saints in the world, yet one of the least documented, since almost nothing beyond his martyrdom and early cult can be verified. The dragon-slaying legend arose roughly a thousand years after his death and, spread by the medieval Golden Legend, made him the patron saint of England, Georgia, soldiers, and scouts, as well as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers.
