Isidore of Seville

Isidore of Seville (c. 560–636) was Archbishop of Seville and the last of the great Latin Church Fathers, whose twenty-book encyclopedia, the Etymologiae, preserved much of ancient learning through the collapse of the Roman world and became one of the most copied books of the Middle Ages. Declared a Doctor of the Church in 1722, he is invoked today — with a wink of history — as the patron saint of the internet.
