Martha of Bethany

Martha of Bethany was a first-century Jewish woman of Bethany, a village near Jerusalem, and the sister of Mary and Lazarus; she appears in the Gospels of Luke and John as the busy householder who welcomes Jesus and, at her brother Lazarus' tomb, makes one of the New Testament's clearest confessions of faith — "I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God" (John 11:27), the same confession the other Gospels place on the lips of Peter. She is honored as the patron saint of housekeepers, cooks, innkeepers and servants, and her feast is kept on 29 July.
