Michael the Archangel

Michael the Archangel is Scripture's captain of the heavenly host — named in the Book of Daniel as the guardian "prince" of God's people, in the Epistle of Jude as the angel who disputes with the devil over the body of Moses, and in Revelation as the one who casts the dragon out of heaven. He is not a saint with a biography — no birth, no death, no life to reconstruct, only a handful of Bible passages and the devotion that grew around them. His principal feast is 29 September (Michaelmas), and Pope Leo XIII's short Prayer to St Michael, composed in 1886, is the reason his name is still so widely on Catholic lips.
