Thomas Aquinas
Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225-1274) was a Dominican friar and the most influential systematic theologian in the history of the Catholic Church, author of the unfinished Summa Theologiae and the Corpus Christi hymns; he is honored as the "Angelic Doctor" and patron of students, universities, and theologians. After a wordless experience during Mass on 6 December 1273 he stopped writing, calling all his work "straw," and died the following March on his way to the Council of Lyon.
